James B. Harris

We are honored to announce the attendance of James B. Harris: producer, screenwriter, and director of a rich and singular universe.

James B. Harris

As a filmmaker, James B. Harris is above all faithful in his collaborations. He produced three of Stanley Kubrik’s films: The Killing (1956), Paths of Glory (1957) and Lolita (1962). His filmography is composed exclusively of "films noirs,” certain of which he directed himself. You will notice that his characters are never white, nor black, but infinitely gray. He directed James Woods several times and adapted two novels by James Ellroy, including The Black Dahlia in 2006, directed by Brian de Palma.

Some Call it Loving  (Sleeping Beauty)  by James B. Harris (1973, 1:42)

Other screening: Pathé Bellecour Sat. 10pm

Cop  by James B. Harris (1988, 1:50)

Other screening: Institut Lumière theater 2 Fri. 8:30pm

Lolita  by Stanley Kubrick (1962, 2:33)

Peter Sellers gives an explosive performance while James Mason’s perfectly refined ambiguity is played off against the sensual electricity of the young Sue Lyon. A brilliant adaptation of Nabokov’s novel, and the last of three films produced by the man who would launch Kubrick’s career, James B. Harris.
With the presence of James B. Harris: Pathé Bellecour Thu. 10:15am
Other screening: UGC Cité Internationale Sat. 8:30pm
