Taking over a new space, in the Village as ever, the festival bookshop is open daily from 10:30am to 9pm. Take a break from your hectic schedule or stroll over inbetween films to browse our cinema book collection of over 250 titles.

So that the pleasure of the screenings may last as long as possible, the Lumière 2013 program is the main priority: from Quentin Tarantino to Ingmar Bergman, alongside Henri Verneuil and Hal Ashby or of course Robert Bresson and Jacques Baratier, with numerous publications on this year’s honored directors as well as books on the actors who defined their times, such as the Opening Ceremony special guest, Jean-Paul Belmondo.

Through a selection of books by the festival’s invited authors, discover works penned by Luc Dardenne, Michael Cimino, Claude Lelouch, PhilippeGarnier ...

This year, a new section called De l’écrit à l’écran (“from the script to the screen”) groups works adapted to the cinema in 2013 and screened for Lumière, for fans who love reading films as much as watching them…

Aside from the official program of Lumière 2013, the bookshop features The Imaginary Library of Quentin Tarantino: texts on cinema,on directors and actors that could easily find their way onto the nightstand of this craziest of directors. Discover films by Kubrick, Hitchcock, Fellini, Polanski, books on 1970s American cinema, the New Hollywood, Dennis Hopper, road movies, the Hammer Horror, and reference books that together make for the ultimate Quentin Tarantino celluloid library ... From tried-and-true classics to independent film productions, whether for budding cinephiles to seasoned buffs, here you’ll find the true cornerstones of film literature as well as new works that really should be checked out.

Bargain hunters can have fun browsing the used books section: essays, biographies, illustrated books; expand your collection without breaking the bank.

With our selection of film magazines, get the lowdown on cinema and cinephilia news: Positif, Cahiers du cinéma, Jeune Cinéma and So Film. A selected back-catalogue of Positif lets you climb back into your favorites of Bergman and Tarantino!

Last but not least: Lumière has not forgotten the kids: the youth department will be full of illustrated albums to tell the story of the cinema, revealing production secrets and historical facts, with short stories to familiarize tiny eyes with the big names of the 7th Art, and cinema-oriented activity books, because there’s no age limit for one’s directorial debuts in the hallowed halls of the flipbook!
